Ghent is a cute neighborhood, full of young professionals, college students, and tenured residents, all from different backgrounds. I found Ghent to be a great melting pot of people in a close proximity to each other. There is a ton of history surrounding Ghent, and I found it to be a fun place to live. The buildings are older, and even in the same apartment building, no two apartments were ever the same. It's a great place to walk around and run into people you know. Take a walk on Colley Avenue, and enjoy some of the many restaurants, coffee shops, and other specialty stores that Ghent has to offer, including the historic Naro theater. There is definitely a thriving nightlife to be found on Colley Ave. Some of the downsides to Ghent would be the lack of parking (mostly on-street), the lack of space, and the young college life that surrounds Ghent began to interfere with my new young professional life (multiple parties throughout the week night doesn't make for good rest). My husband and I wanted to start our family, and we felt that we needed a slower paced, more quiet environment for the next phase of our lives. I really loved living in Ghent and enjoyed being a part of the unique neighborhood.
