 Overview (edit)

Sheridan is located in northeast Minneapolis, between Broadway and 18th Avenues, from the Mississippi River to Washington Avenue. This rectangular block houses many of Northeast's famed neighborhood bars, as well as a burgeoning artists' community along 13th Avenue, which includes the Rogue Buddha Gallery and Creative Electric Studios. The city streets are lined with many duplexes and single-family homes, as well as multiple small apartment buildings. The population here is still 76% white, but is increasing in diversity every year - and most of the residents are adults, between 25 and 44. Fabulous restaurants, such as the homegrown gourmet Modern Café and Mayslack's Bar, which is famed throughout Minneapolis for its Roast Beef sandwiches, are nestled between the charming old homes in Sheridan. And there is never a lack for something to do - whether that is a carousing night of trivia or local music at the 331 Club, catching a dance or theater performance at the Ritz, or a friendly chat over coffee at the cozy Matchbox Coffee Shop. The historic Grain Belt Brewery, which was home to one of the midwest's best-selling beers for 75 years and was converted into the headquarters of RSP architects after its restoration in 2002, is located near the river, on the west side of the neighborhood, next to Pierre Bottineau Library. The Sheridan community is lively and homey, and is home to many of Northeast Minneapolis' loyalist lifers, urban families and young working professionals and artists.

Sheridan is hands-down my favorite Minneapolis neighborhood. It's lively, but homey, full of beautiful old homes and charming local hangouts, and there's always something to do within a five minute walk. Neighbors and friendly, it's close to the bus, and there's tons of street parking. Highly recommended!
