Overview
(edit)
Covering about two square miles, The Fiesta district, formally known as the Fiesta Mall Area, is great for students, families and retirees alike. The city of Mesa received $6.1 million dollars to revitalize the area. Along with new businesses, new parks, and new signage, the neighborhood underwent a name change. This neighborhood is a great location, right off US 60 and next to Loop 202, close to the 101, and 10 minutes from the Sky Harbor Airport. In addition to easy access to transportation freeways, the neighborhood is home to schools, as well as many delicious restaurants and thriving businesses, like Banner Health Care, Wells Fargo, and U.S. Airways.
Due to the close proximity to Tempe, many local apartments are rented by ASU students. The light-rail to ASU is about a mile away from the neighborhood and the ASU stadium is about 15-20 minutes away.
The homes in the area were built about the same time as the mall, in the late 1970's. What you will find are small pockets of real neighborhoods, where a family of five can be living right next door to a pair of retirees next to a newly married couple. Most homes here are in the $150,000 range. For the location, closeness to freeways and shopping, and revitalization, your rental/mortgage dollar is a remarkable deal."
