Apartment dwellers will have no problem finding something nice and affordable. Georgetown, KY apartment prices are quite reasonable, ranging from $600-800. The town is attractive with plenty of restaurants. And, for other opportunities, Lexington isn't too far away. Also, the Kentucky Horse Park is only 12 miles from Georgetown. Crime is not a significant problem, yet unemployment is a little higher than the nation's average. Overall, apartments are at good prices, the cost of living is low, and it's a laid back atmosphere.

Erlanger is a quiet suburb ideal for someone wanting quick access to an airport and a major city. It's very safe. Incomes are higher here than many places in the state. However, they Erlangers are not immune to the recession with unemployment hovering around 10%. However, there are entertainment opportunities along with dozens of choices for higher education. Apartment prices are terrific in Erlanger with a one-bedroom costing you around $500. You can't find better prices throughout the country. Overall, this is nice town but a little on the boring side. I give it a YES because of the location to all things better.

Florence, KY, which is located ten miles from Cincinnati, OH is an "all American" middle class town. Their water tower that is easily visible as you enter town welcomes all visitors with the friendly statement, "FLORENCE Y'ALL". Florence is situated on 10 square miles with 28,000 residents. They have a diversified entertainment base that includes a minor league baseball team, Florence Mall (the largest mall in northern KY), tons of shopping, Florence Family Aquatic Center, Turfway Park (major horse racing track), two County parks (with hiking, biking and fishing) and a skate park. Florence is the hometown of the great NFL running back, Shaun Alexander, and the famed country singer, Kenny Price. Florence is known regionally for their excellent school system and two high rated hospitals.Florence has experienced a 20% population boom over the past decade which has caused an increase in building and competitive pricing for single family homes and apartment rents. This is the time to buy in Florence.  

Nestled 25 miles west of Lexington and 50 miles east of Louisville, Frankfort, Kentucky is the home to approximately 30,000 good-hearted simple town folk. Even though the town is small, Frankfort is full of rich historic landmarks, museums and a collection of architectural styles that give the older homes flair and character. Richmond housing costs are slightly higher than the rest of Kentucky's, but well worth the price. Richmond has a lot to offer residents and visitors alike.

Corbin lies in the Cumberland Plateau region of Appalachia in southeastern Kentucky. Corbin hosts an annual event in early August called NIBROC. NIBROC features open-air concerts, carnival attractions, a beauty pageant, and a number of legendary bands. Corbin also hosts "Moonbow Nights" and the "Train Sculpture Garden." Although Corbin is located in two dry counties, some restaurants are allowed to serve beer and alcoholic beverages. Cumberland Falls State Park, the site of the only waterfall in the world to feature a regularly occurring moonbow is located 19 miles to the southwest. The cost of living is relative to the areas below average median wages, with affordable real estate and rental properties. The cost of housing is slightly lower than the rest of Kentucky, making it an affordable place for a wide array of people.

Williamsburg, Kentucky is a city in Whitley County and is known as "the gateway to the Cumberland's". Williamsburg is just north of the Tennessee border and Interstate 75 runs right through it. Williamsburg is next to the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Cumberland River flows through directly through the center of the city. Williamsburg is home to the Hal Rogers Family Entertainment Center and the Kentucky Splash Water Park. Williamsburg is roughly 18 miles from The Cumberland State Resort Park; the park is home the Cumberland Falls, known as Little Niagara, Niagara of the South or the Great Falls and is the only venue in the Western Hemisphere where a moonbow or lunar rainbow is regularly visible on a clear night with a full moon. Williamsburg is also home to the University of the Cumberland's, which is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Williamsburg is a quant and welcoming city with a very low crime rate. Overall, Williamsburg is a great place to live and raise a family.

Serving as the seat of Boone County is the quaint little Kentucky town of Burlington. Monticello is in a beautiful setting of being at the Smokey Mountains. Lake Cumberland is the big draw here. It has 1,200 miles of shoreline and 63,000 acres of water. It's ideal if you want to get away from it all and fish, canoe, and simply "be." However, living here is not the best idea. Unemployment is extremely high. It's 100 miles from a large city. Poverty is rampant. Education doesn't seem to matter to folks. Other than natural beauty, living here is tough because there's no opportunity. Renting an apartment or even an entire house doesn't cost too much. Nothing really costs a lot here. But, the quality of life is dismal. I don't recommend it unless you're coming here to hide out from the world and have the money to do so.
