Felicita

Escondido, CA

 Overview (edit)

Felicita is a small & tranquil town tucked away inside the heart of Escondido, California. Located less than five minutes from Interstate 15, and less than ten minutes to Route 78; the location is ideal for getting to and from destinations. Views of picturesque mountains, avocado & fruit tree lined streets, complete this beautiful town. Houses and apartments are situated on more land, and there is more room for privacy & peacefulness. It is also only a 25-minute drive to the beach.

The city is complete with a local park, known as Felicita Park, which is one of the county’s most attractive and popular picnic parks. The park includes some of Southern California’s largest & most beautiful oaks, a freshwater stream, & extensive grassy areas. Felicita Road, which runs from the southern tip, all the way to the other side of town, is often used by the locals as a ‘shortcut’ road because there is minimal traffic and congestion. Felicita also has its own town center with local shops and eateries.

The climate is mild. The scenery is beautiful. The neighbors are peaceful. If you are looking for more of a relaxed and quiet atmosphere than Felicita is the place!

It's very peaceful out here & I love it's close location to the Wild Animal park! It also smells really nice driving east on the 78 once you pass the local citrus trees.

The city is composed of demographically diverse working class families, predominately white and hispanic families.

There are many bars and restuarants located off of Centre City parkway & Broadway, but O'Sullivan's Irish Pub (off of Grand) is known for having the best corn beef and cabbage around. The pub also has nightly drink specials, and a comfortable small town atmosphere. Comstock Bar & Grill off of Mission Ave. is a great place to eat and listen to rock n roll.

Pala, Resort & Casino is located close to Felicita in east Escondido. It is often compared to resorts in Vegas and is known as 'Southern California's Most Spectacular Playground'™. They offer a four diamond award winning casino, nightly shows, and a luxurious resort.

Living in Felicita is quite affordable because it is considered more 'inland'. One bedrooms range from about $800-$1200, and expect to pay more for apartments that include a patrol, pool & gym ammenities, and views of the mountain.

Felicita is convienantly located next to Route 78 and Interstate 15. They also have a bus service operated by North County Transit District (NCTD) which runs throughout the city. NCTD also recently started operating the Sprinter, a light rail service that links Escondido to Oceanside using the existing 22 - mile Escondido Branch trackage of the San Diego Northern Railroad.

If you are looking for a quiet and mellow atmosphere, love nature & scenic drives, than Felicita is the city for you.

You can ride a bike from Felicita to downtown Escondido, but most likely will need a car to get anywhere else.

Felicita is a pet friendly town. Dogs are allowed at Felicita Park but must be kept on a leash. There is a local Four Feet & Feathers Pet store where the associates are very knowledgable and personable in pet supplies.

There is also a Acacia Animal Health Center located off of Citracado Parkway, which provides quality and friedly care to your pets and animals, and also offers pet boarding & sitting for when you leave town.

There are many things to do outside, and in nature, in Felicita and surrounding areas.

Felicata's own park is beautiful & full of fifty three acres of oak groves, trails for hiking & observing nature, areas to rock climb, streams throughout the park, plenty of places to have picnics, relax and roast s'mores, volleyball courts, horshshoes pits, and an amphitheatre. It's great for large gatherings, and there's also covered pavillions that can be rented out for parties, events, reunions, ect.

The world famous Wild Animal Park is another amazingly beautiful place to visit, & is only about a fifteen minute drive from Felicita. It's filled with animals from all over the world, some of which are on the verge of extinction. Their Journey into Africa Tour allows you to view animals up close and personal, and observe them interacting & lounging in natural environments. Don't forget your camera for this; you will feel like you are truly in Africa for this safari!

Plan ahead when traveling on the Route 78 and Intersate 15. These are highly crowded areas and tend to get quite congested. If you want a less congested way to travel through Escondido use Felicita Road instead of Centre City Parkway.

Be careful driving at night around Felicita road. The road narrows and isn't too visible in the distance.

The Felicita Town center has a Trader Joe's that has plenty of fresh, natural produce, and is fairly reasonable in price. There is also a Ralph's close by, & a Rick's Grocery which is more of a farmers market, and you can purchase produce that has been picked from local growers.

While there are no gyms in Felicita itself, there are gyms within a 5-10 minute drive in Escondido such as Frogs Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, & the Escondido Boxing and Fitness Gym.

Head over to Broadway or Escondido Boulevard to find many large banks with 24 hour atm access.

It is also convenient that The California Motor Vehicles Department is located about 10 minutes away, because if you become a resident, you need to get your California driver liscense within ten days.

There are three elementary schools located in the area; Felicita Elementary, Miller Elementary School, & Grace Lutheran School, as well as a sleuth of other schools located in the city of Escondido itself. A great place to go, that the whole family would enjoy would be The Wild Animal Park or Felicitas own county park.
