East Glenville is a nice, suburban residential area lacking any internal neighborhoods, since it is a suburb of Glenville, itself. The park's placement in the center of the town makes it a focus for anyone who isn't already camping in the park. You'll find single family homes in Woodruff Heights and Belair Manor and along the side streets off of Droms Road, Charlton Road, and Saratoga Road. In the central and western parts of Glenville are the major apartment complexes like Indian Brook Apartments, The Reserve at Glenville, and Hampton Run Apartments. Basically any kind of living situation you are looking for can be found either within East Glenville or a short drive from it.
Living in East Glenville
If you're looking for parks, this is the place for you. Recreation is the name of the game here and, though it isn't all that's there, let's just say it's a big part of the area. There are five different nature preserves plus additional trails and nature-lover draws all within a few short miles of East Glenville. These places go year-round, so don't think it's all about summer-time fun. Aside from parks, Glenville boasts the Empire State Aeroscience Museum--bet you didn't see that one coming. However, just outside the borders is even more.
For groceries and shopping, hop in the car and stop over in Scotia to get your dinner from the Price Chopper Plaza and some new duds at the Mayfair Shopping Center. A mere 10 minutes away in Niskayuna is an abundance of shopping and dining. If you're looking for bigger shopping action, you can drive about 25 minutes to the southeast and scratch that retail itch at Crossgates Mall right in Albany, New York.
If you want some real entertainment, you can head into downtown Schenectady for some fine dining, a show at Proctor's Theater or a visit to Schenectady's Museum of Innovation and Science.
If you really want to get away, drive a mere 20 minutes to get to Albany International Airport. Flying not your style? Then why not hop on an Amtrak train from Schenectady and head down to New York City or up to Montreal, Canada? One of East Glenville's best perks is that it's so centrally located that you can get just about anywhere you need to go.
Sorry to say that the CDTA bus line stops just short of Glenville, down in Scotia, so if you're looking for a trip in to Schenectady, you'll probably do best with carpooling. What? You thought you could have everything? Well, it's pretty close over in East Glenville. Maybe we can cut them a break on this one.
The bottom line is that East Glenville offers a high quality of life for its residents. Whether you're renting or buying, it's got it all, and what it doesn't have you can get to with relative ease.
